Can you hear us? Up to
the Spring of 2000 the only way to receive CHR had been via the headphones
to be found next to each bed. This obviously made it difficult for anyone
other than a patient in bed to actually hear us! This was particularly
frustrating when patients wanted to share their listening with visitors or wished
to dedicate a record to a member of the hospital staff. On May 13th 2000 at 2:31pm CHR launched a new radio service on 1431 khz. In the planning stages for more than twelve months, AM broadcasting now enables anyone with a normal radio to hear our output throughout the hospital and grounds by tuning in to 1431 khz. This 24 hour radio service of record requests, community information, news, music, and features can now be heard by not only patients but also hospital staff and visitors too.
If you are visiting a patient at St. Richard's Hospital you too can listen to CHR by tuning your car or portable radio to 1431AM. You could request a record for a friend or relative in hospital and hear it being broadcast by listening on your car radio before you leave St. Richard's. Equally patients are now able to send messages and ask for record requests to be played for staff and visitors. |

Bedside Tuning We hope that you will listen to St. Richard's very own Hospital Radio service, CHR, on CHANNEL 11 on your bedside/Hospicom unit. We can also be found by tuning your own portable radio to 1431 AM (Medium Wave) or on the fixed frequency radios which are provided by CHR for patient's use. |
