Radio Show Presenters

John BarrettJohn Barrett  John is the anchorman for

Tuesday’s TLC show bringing decades of musical

knowledge and experience to match his genial

approach to ward-visiting and request gathering.

John is also the Councilmember responsible for

Internal Affairs.

Chris BlakeChris Blake Another CHR who must be notching up

near two decades of dedicated broadcasting

at St Richards whether Chris is Drifting and

Dreaming or starring in his own peerless

Blake’s About documentary series.

Holding ImageAlan Broadhurst Another valued member of the

OASIS team, Alan has also been active

in CHR for over more than three decades

and his quiet approach to radio brings

balance at the end of a hectic CHR day.

Bill Barwell    Bill Barwell (past Chairman) is a motorsports

enthusiast, and presents some interesting feature

programmes, as well as heading-up the Tuesday

TLC team.

Holding ImageColin Chatfield Colin is the mainstay of the Staff

Request Show on each and every

Wednesday afternoon, bringing his

charm into play in involving staff –

nursing, administrative and executive -

in the CHR broadcasting experience

Pete CrewPete Crew If there is one voice you are likely to

hear more often than any other on CHR,

it is Pete’s whether he is introducing you

to music legends, compering the daily

concerts in the afternoon, trawling

through the CHR Library for the

Book of Records, or promoting other shows.  Pete

has two rôles on the Council: Acting Chairman and Head of Programmes.

TomDempsterThomas Dempster A staunch TLC man - look out for him

(in the nice way) on Wednesdays

Jennifer Durlston-PowellJennifer Durlston-Powell. Jennifer loves working alongside

Rob Roxy and Tom Howard on the Thursday

night TLC request show, although she is

threatening to ask for her own show soon.

Pete EdgelerPete Edgeler Pete can be heard on CHR with the excellent

twice-at-weekend’s Treble Top Show and

often standing in for the occasional

holidaying TLC presenter.

Holding imageDave Edwards - is a stalwart of the Monday TLC team.

Steve FreegardSteve Freegard Steve has just returned to the microphone

at CHR, following a well deserved sabbatical

after he had redesigned and rebuilt the OASIS

studio, and he can be heard on Tuesday evenings,

sitting-in for John on the TLC request show.

Louisa GibbonsLouisa Gibbons is often helping out with outside broadcasts

and occasionally dropping in on Fridays's TLC

request shows to ensure that we are still

playing the right quota of ABBA tracks!

Jane and Malcolm GrayJane Gray Jane is certainly the better half of Malcolm Gray,

and they present the Wednesday TLC together.

Malcolm Gray Wednesday night’s TLC request show have

never been ‘grey’ when Malcolm’s in charge.  As a professional

roadshow DJ, he brings colour to ward-visiting in midweek.

TomHowardTom Howard. Tom's weird facts and funny stories enliven the

Thursday TLC request show.

Bernard HaywardBernard Hayward Bernard is CHR’s classical expert – from

Bach to Brahms, Strauss to Stravinsky, very few composers fall through

Bernard’s trawl early on a Monday evening when he brings you his own

eclectic light classical selection in Variations on a Theme.

Holding imageJohn Harcourt-Kelly  John is another old-timer who's returned.

John does the Sunday Breakfast Show

KenHobbsKen Hobbs Ken and various friends put out a monthly hour of

live comedy and music from 1974 until 1987, when Ken’s

job got in the way. Ken rejoined in 2003 doing the Friday

TLC and outside broadcasts. When it comes to

knowledge and interest in Folk Music, you will have to go

a long way to find a better presenter on Folk for All,

each week on Thursday at 6. Currently Council representative for Membership

and Finance.

Mark HughesMark Hughes Mark brings his professional broadcasting

experience to his White Line show, matching his

mellow style to the perfect choice of relaxing songs

in the middle of the road.

Colin JennerColin Jenner Colin is CHR’s longest-serving broadcaster. In

fact some people believe the CHR studio was built around him as it was

an old pram-store and Colin may well have been broadcasting from his

pram at St Richards in the early 70’s!  Colin has held many positions

over the years, including Chair.

Marvin KaneMarvin Kane Not a robot, jazz is this citizen's passion!

He helps Fred Wright from 2 to 4 o'clock on a Wednesday.

Ken KnightKen Knight Another of CHR’s long service members, Ken

has presented Oasis – CHR’s daily non-denominational

religious programme – for nearly 40 years. A great walker

and talker with a voice that resonates peace and tranquility.

Holding imageMike Knight There are very few popular music genres that Mike

isn’t expert on - you may well find this out when you hear him getting

the weekend going on a Saturday morning on CHR.

Sarah LaingSarah Laing Sarah has been CHR’s ward visiting coordinator

and co-presenter on Sunday evening's TLC.  She's currently awaiting an

opportunity to return to the air.

Rob LinzellRobert Linzell Rob has his own Sunday afternoon

programme of memorable melodies and interesting features, called

'Simply Gravy', but no-one knows why.

GabrielLudlowGabriel Ludlow. When (Special) Constabulary duties are done,

and when away from the motorsports circuit, Gabriel leads the

Monday TLC team.

Graham MakerGraham Maker Possibly our most literate presenter, being a

Scrabble champion and crossword expert, Graham

turns his mind to all things stage and screen,

presenting That’s Entertainment on a Saturday afternoon.

Rob Roxy Rob Roxy is an experienced broadcaster and actor

and can be found in the TLC Request programme teams

on Thursday and Friday.  Rob also put together and

starred-in the 2010 CHR Panto "Aladdin".  Rob is

the Council member for Technical matters, and is Studio

Manager.   Rumours that he lives in the Studio are said to be false.

Aaron RobinsonAaron Robinson. Aaron is in Gabriel's Monday TLC team.

Edmund Spicer Edmund Spicer Edmund is a CHR presenter of many years standing –

and sitting – and his relaxed yet engaging style is much

missed.  A team of wild horses is being assembled to

facilitate his return to the airwaves.

Alan Stiles Alan Stiles Alan may well be one of our more senior members but,

as an award winning broadcaster, his contribution to T

uesday’s TLC show mixes his great voice with thoughtful

features, local news and requests. He's a bit keen on jazz, too.

MaxTaylorMax Taylor. Max is in Gabriel's Monday TLC team.

Holding ImageMartin Vick If you can’t sleep on a Thursday evening,  and sometimes

Fridays, Martin’s your man to assist with the best selection

of popular lullabies from the CHR library and his own collection

– sometimes on good old vinyl.

David WebbDavid Webb Sunday is the usual day to catch David either standing in on the

TLC request show or on OASIS. David is also a valued member

of our ward visiting team, distributing copies of SMILE, doing ward

surveys and checking on bedside radios.

Holding imageRichard WebsterAn old hand who's strayed back into the fold to present

Saturday's Breakfast Show.

Holding ImageFred Wright Jazz music is this man's speciality: Wednesdays

from 2pm to 4.

Also look out for: Georgie Birch, Zoe Robinson, Andrew Jolly,

Isaac Lewis and Marc Dunderdale who are all new starters with CHR

(although some have previous experience of hospital radio).
